God created man for incorruption

Dear Loreto House Family,

We begin chapter one and meditate on the story of Cain and Abel, “the roots of violence against life.”

It is important to keep in mind that God is Life and death does  not come from Him.  It was the evil one that brought death into the world when he deceived man.  This scripture passage from Wisdom is a beautiful way to begin, for we need to maintain our Supernatural Vision and see with the eyes of God.  Otherwise, we get caught up in the sins of man and it can lead to despair.

From Evangelium Vitae:

CHAPTER I – THE VOICE OF YOUR BROTHER’S BLOOD CRIES TO ME FROM THE GROUND

PRESENT-DAY THREATS TO HUMAN LIFE

“Cain rose up against his brother Abel, and killed him” (Gen 4:8): the roots of violence against life

7. “God did not make death, and he does not delight in the death of the living. For he has created all things that they might exist … God created man for incorruption, and made him in the image of his own eternity, but through the devil’s envy death entered the world, and those who belong to his party experience it” (Wis 1:13-14; 2:23-24).

John Paul II

In Christ Our Life,

Katherine
